Appearance & Behavior
Gold Roseline Barbs (Sahyadria denisonii “Gold”) are a golden color variety of the Denison Barb, combining a streamlined body with warm gold tones and red accents. These energetic schooling fish bring coordinated movement to a spacious freshwater aquarium, cruising through open water and exploring planted edges. Their social nature makes a properly sized group especially rewarding to watch.

Aquarium Setup & Compatibility
Provide a mature, well-filtered aquarium with plenty of uninterrupted swimming space, strong surface agitation, and clean, oxygen-rich water. Moderate to strong circulation suits these stream-dwelling fish, but include quieter resting areas. Arrange smooth rocks, driftwood, and sturdy plants around the sides and back rather than crowding the center. Use a secure lid, as startled fish may jump.
Keep Gold Roselines in a school of at least six to encourage natural behavior and help spread social attention. Their speed and activity suit similarly sized, peaceful fish that share their temperature and flow preferences, such as suitable larger rasboras, danios, and peaceful barbs. Avoid aggressive tankmates, very small fish, and slow or delicate species that may be stressed by constant activity.
Maintain stable water conditions with regular partial water changes, and avoid overcrowding or prolonged high temperatures that reduce oxygen availability. This listing is for the approximately 2-inch size category; plan for their full adult size and the needs of the entire school.
Feeding
Offer quality tropical flakes or appropriately sized pellets, including spirulina or other vegetable-based foods. Supplement with frozen or live foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia, and occasional bloodworms. A varied diet supports good condition and natural coloration.
Feed small portions once or twice daily, only as much as the school consumes within a few minutes. Spread food across the aquarium so less assertive fish can feed, and remove leftovers to protect water quality.
